Everything went in our favour today for the second day of competition at US Sailing’s Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championship at the Houston Yacht Club. Our finishes today were 3-2-1 and the discard rule kicked in and we were able to drop our second-race 16th from yesterday. We’re now leading with a six point cushion to the second-placed boat.|

Yesterday we did OK but we might have been suffering a little from jet lag after our regatta visit to Brazil. Today, the boat felt dialled-in. After three races it really felt quick, although it took a little time to get there. We had a fine start to leeward of the pack in the first race but we were lacking a little speed. We got beat up on on both sides of the race course up the first beat. After that we clawed back and squeezed out a third place finish, right in front of Anna Tunnicliffe.

For the second race, there was a huge left shift right off the start. And we punched the gun by a second and elected to do a circle and restart. It was shifty and puffy, mostly under 20 knots and we were able to get back into the top five. Anna Tunnicliffe was clear ahead in this race and we pushed her hard but finished second.

The right was favored for the third race and we started right at the committee boat and got clear of the fleet and just motored away. The boat felt good, we were on our game and no-one threatened us the whole race.

Tomorrow the forecasters are calling for lighter breeze but the committee will be looking to finish three more races before we wrap it up on Saturday with a couple of races..
